Welcome Advanced Energy Ion Source customers!

General Plasma has completed the acquisition of the Ion Source product line from Advanced Energy Industries (AE). With this acquisition General Plasma is now the world leader in anode layer ion source technology.

Effective immediately, GPI will be selling and servicing Linear Ion Sources (LIS) from 38 to 370 cm, Single-Cell Ion Sources (SCIS) and Multi-Cell Ion Sources (MCIS). General Plasma has sold linear ion sources for several years and has advanced this technology with a number of patented and patent pending innovations. The ion source products offered by GPI include:

  • Anode Layer Ion Source (ALS)
  • Pointed Pole Anode Layer Ion Source (PPALS)
  • Splayed Beam Anode Layer Ion Source (SPALS)

To ensure a seamless transition for AE customers, General Plasma will continue to manufacture and repair AE ion sources (including both warranty and non-warranty repairs). General Plasma’s world class ion source service center includes the following capabilities:

  • Ion source test chambers capable of operational testing of sources up to 3.7 meters long
  • Process development services in support of ion source sales
  • In-depth application and ion source physics knowledge

Note: Going forward Advanced Energy’s Ion Source products will be termed ‘General Plasma Classic Ion Source’ products.
